Although I cannot talk about the battle, I can recognize the warriors that were in it.
Last week on a beautiful clear morning, the silence was shattered by the sounds of alarms, sirens and a desperate cry for help. Outnumbered and against all odds, the brave warriors of Meadows Valley leapt into action with nothing more than their dedication, perseverance, and love for mankind. At death’s door they stood as one, and with a roar louder than 1,000 lions screamed into the darkness “Not this soul, not today!” They fought with strength of 100 men; the sight was absolutely incredible. The battle raged on, and these incredible warriors would not give up.
After the battle was over, the battlefield was cleaned and supplies restocked. And those same heroic warriors stepped back into the shadows, asking nothing of themselves. No metals on their chests. No parades. A simple professional head nod to each other as the bay door closed and they walked to their vehicles, back to their jobs, homes, and families. No one ever knowing of the fierce battle they’ve once again faced.
To the people of Meadows Valley, you have no idea how lucky you are to have these angels of mercy on your side fighting for you, on your worst day, and the time they spend preparing for that day.
To my brave brothers and sisters of Meadows Valley Fire, Thank you! I am so proud of you, and proud to lead you into battle.
