Georgia Charlene Toney

Georgia Charlene Toney passed away Friday, July 5, 2024 at Brookdale Senior Living in Ontario, Oregon.

Georgia was born on August 13, 1938 at The Dalles, Oregon to parents George and Mary Gray and was raised on their 700-acre wheat and cattle ranch on Juniper Flat outside of Maupin, Oregon.

Shortly after her high school graduation, she married Walter Aulman. They later divorced. Two daughters were born to this union, Lila and Connie.

Georgia moved to Seattle following the divorce and among other jobs, she worked at Boeing for a time assembling airplanes. While working there, she met Bill Ogle. In 1971, after they were both laid off from Boeing due to the declining economy of that time, they moved to Bill’s hometown of Indian Valley, Idaho. They divorced in 1978.

In 1980 Georgia and Leo Toney were married—a loving marriage that lasted 43 years until Leo’s death on May 20 of this year. Following his passing, Georgia moved from their Ontario home to Brookdale where she lived just 5 weeks before her unexpected death.

Being raised on a ranch, Georgia was no stranger to putting in a good day’s work. One of her first jobs after becoming a wife and mother was to distribute bundled newspapers every weekday afternoon. She would load up the station wagon with papers and her little girls and off she went. She was also quick to always find work as a nursing aide in care facilities whenever life took her to a new place to live. During her 5 years at Boeing, she proved herself to be a respected and valued employee receiving several financial awards for her suggestion box submissions that were implemented into production protocol. While living in Indian Valley, Georgia was able to continue with a childhood passion for horses—with lots of riding time including day work for various ranchers. After marrying Leo, they lived for a time in Treasure Mobile Home Park where she worked as the property manager.

Georgia and Leo enjoyed traveling, often in their motorhome. Some memorable trips included going to Kodiak, Alaska, the Calgary Stampede, trips to Alabama, and to Mexico. One special memory to Georgia was visiting the Roy Rogers Museum in California, and a highlight for this horse- loving ranch girl was getting a hug from Roy himself.

In addition to her husband Leo, she was preceded in death by her parents, as well as a sister Bev McAllister and a brother Wayne Gray. Georgia is survived by her two daughters Lila Aulman (Joe Kunkle) of Eugene, Oregon and Connie Aulman of Ontario; a grandson Dustin Janes; a sister Helen Welp (Jerry) of Dufur, Oregon as well as several nieces and nephews; and Leo’s six children and their families.

It was Georgia’s wish that no services be held; she just wanted to be buried at the Cambridge Cemetery next to Leo. Arrangements are under the direction of Haren-Wood of Ontario.
