A new and improved playground has long been a hope, a wish, a dream for the Midvale School District. Despite the wishes of the students, hopes of staff and a few attempts from well meaning community members it seemed as if it was a dream that would never come to fruition. That was until the Larry and Marianne Williams Family Foundation provided a tremendous gift to the district in the form of a playground grant. This grant allowed the district to restructure the playground, making it possible to keep the old favorites and add a sizable new universal playset. In addition to the impressive new playset, a muscle man outdoor climber was installed, a basketball/pickleball/tennis court was created and a sand volleyball court was added. New sidewalks were poured to connect the playground to the buses/bus turnaround area. Perimeter fencing is the final component that has yet to be completed.

Watching the students navigate their new oasis on the first day of school was a complete joy! The elementary students love to show off their new playground; they are so proud. There have been students utilizing the basketball and volleyball courts during and after school hours. I cannot stress enough how grateful I am to the Larry and Marianne Williams Family Foundation for this tremendous gift that will serve our students and community for years to come. It still gives me goosebumps when I think of their generosity and the impact this grant will have.

Many people and organizations worked dedicatedly through the summer to make sure our students were able to utilize these new additions for the start of school! I’d like to thank Barrett Morris, Craig Excavation, Middle Valley Construction, Midvale Sand & Gravel, and Trevor Farrens for their effort in making the timeline work. A special thank you to Mary Hasenoehrl (committee member) for her assistance in seeing this project through!
