Adams County Rodeo Wraps Up
Another Adams County Rodeo is all wrapped up and in the books. According to Rodeo Board Secretary Heather Paradis it was one of the smoothest productions in many years.
Between the John Balderson SR Memorial JR Rodeo last weekend and the Adams County Rodeo this past weekend, they were able to handle over 600 contestants competing across five days of rodeo. Heather said that they received many complements about the weekend and that attendees told them it was a ‘family fun atmosphere and a really well run performance.’
This rodeo makes a large economic impact on the area. Of the over 600 contestants, less than 100 are local. The remaining 500 come from all over to compete and spend money in Council supporting local businesses. Heather also reported that they were able to donate several thousand dollars back to the community in the form of scholarships and donations.
The Rodeo used a new stock contractor this year - P9 Rodeo out of Parma, as well as a new announcer. They were pleased with both.
There’s no feasible way to track the number of volunteer hours spent preparing for and putting on these events. They just wrapped up this year’s event and pretty soon the Rodeo Board will start planning next year’s event. Volunteers keep this event going each year.
If you missed the rodeo or just didn’t get your fill of rodeo action, the Matt Loomis Memorial Bull Ride is on September 5. And there will be a High School District 3 Rodeo on September 26-27.
