At the regular meeting of the Midvale City Council Monday evening the board passed a resolution accepting funds to finish paving the Midvale airport runway. Money will come from a $250,000 Idaho Transportation Department, Division of Aeronautics grant and from a $100,000 anonymous donation to the project. The local volunteer work done on the runway last summer is considered to be worth $75,000.

On the subject of grant applications, Clerk Mariah Johnson mentioned one that will provide funds to improve Canary Street but work probably won’t be done until 2026.

The council also approved the bid from Metcalf for park spraying and fertilizing. An application for a kennel license was approved for Christy Graham.

The power pole in the Agnes Keithly Park was broken off when a tree limb came down this winter, so the city is looking to replace it. Some of the councilmen volunteered a pole and labor to install a new one.

The board approved having a special meeting Friday, February 14, to consider an occupancy permit for one of the new buildings at the school. Paperwork will need to be collected before that time to enable a vote on the matter.

The next regular meeting of the council will be March 10 at 7:00 p.m..
