Airport Resurfacing Bid Accepted By Council
At the regular meeting of the Midvale City Council Monday evening, airport manager Karson Craig reported that one bid had been submitted for the resurfacing of the airport. It was $636,892 and was just under the projected cost expected by the engineer. The state will reimburse $570,000 and the remaining $66,000 will be paid by the city. Since the county is now sending $30,000 annually to Midvale those funds have been saved in the airport account for these kinds of expenses. Idaho Materials & Construction will be doing the work which will resurface the entire runway and also the apron where planes park. The council approved the bid.
The Adams County building inspector has been doing Midvale inspections but has stated that the fees charged to the homeowners are too low. The council discussed using the one currently serving the county. He is not a county employee but there is a possibility that the county commissioners may consider reinstating the position of county building inspector. The council decided to table this issue until the June meeting, after the election in May.
Clerk Mariah Johnson listed three upcoming events to make note of. May 7 she will be attending a budget training meeting. April 24 will be the Dist. III meeting in Star. May 3 will be the spring spray day for the city. The county weed department is requiring that a minimum of 75 people participate and all must give them a 48 hour notice.
The park sprinklers have already been turned on. It will not be necessary to run them now since there has been so much rain. Also park maintenance person Shawn McClary has been told she can begin mowing anytime.
The next regular meeting of the council will be May 13 at 7:00 p.m..
