Cell Phone Policy Tightened; Hats on Spirit Days
On Monday, August 19th, the Cambridge School Board held its monthly meeting. All members were in attendance. There was a request from the student council to allow hats to be worn on Spirit Days, the board approved the request. The student council also asked for a new PA system in the gym. The board tasked them with researching options and bringing info back to them.
A conversation about the school’s cell phone policy was held and the board amended current policy to be ‘zero tolerance’ for cell phones from the time students get on campus until after school is released. This is only slightly more strict than what was in place before.
The board members also removed some contradictory language in valedictorian requirements.
Members also approved the student and staff handbooks.
The board discussed a way to incentivize passing grades and attendance at the secondary building. Board members (personally) are going to sponsor a slice of pizza from Gateway Pizza (for up to 6 students per month). Drawing will be held to see who wins based on those that qualify. Details are still being worked out on that.
The meeting was then adjourned.
