City to Parcel Out Industrial Park
Last week on Tuesday night, November 12, the City Council met for their monthly meeting.
A public hearing was held in regards to the Community Development Block Grant, however there were no comments from the community.
There was a discussion regarding the city property that City Hall sits on and the property adjacent to it that are being split up into several lots of approximately one acre each. This motion was approved.
County Commissioner Joe Iveson commented that Adams County wants to grow their offices and that the county owns a 4.4 acre property just east of the Adams County Health Center. It is in an area that would be difficult for the county to use, but might be advantageous for the city of Council and suggested a possible trade of properties if both parties agreed on the logistics. The council members said that they don’t think they could use the land either and are not interested in it.
There were a couple of action items on the agenda for the Ritter Subdivision regarding a storm drainage issue and a reimbursement approval. Koby Funderburg and Aaron Maben both own a few lots and were both in attendance. The lots are near the end of Third Street and just north of the Adams County Health Center. The parcels were divided up and sold in a way that makes building a subdivision difficult and the two men are blocked between some laws and restrictions that is hindering their progress. There was a long discussion about the situation but in the end, the action items were not approved. The council members want to work with the builders but the action requests were not an appropriate solution. However, the council members explained some options that the men could work on to be able to accomplish their goals and get back on track with their building plans.
The motion to approve the water/wastewater operations service agreement passed.
The next City Council meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, December 10, 2024, at 6:30 p.m..
