Summer Reading kids showing off their adventure journals they just made at the very first program this year.

The library director, Audrey Crogh, spends many winter months planning, ordering, and organizing. The eight-week program of snacks, games, prizes, books, crafts, tickets, fliers, bags, registration cards, book review papers, the movie day and end of year party are all lined out by the time it starts. Not to mention the Adult Summer Reading Program also! Audrey is an awesome, hardworking, creative person who loves our kids and community! Thank you, Audrey! Of course, she gets a small amount of help from her staff! Also, thanks to the parents that help with the littler kids and clean up!

The most help comes on the actual program days like the one that started things off this year. Thirty-eight kids in ages ranging from 1 to 13 came to participate on June 12! Audrey read them two adventure stories, then they made and decorated little bound journals to record their summer adventures in. After this, everyone got to turn in their book reviews for tickets to start playing the fair like games of fish pond, disk drop, dice popper, hole punch and spin the wheel. By playing these games they win candy, toys or raffle tickets for weekly drawings of big prizes! The first week’s winners were Boaz Reynaga, Lenina McDaniel, Parker Hill and Preslee Heil.

The stories and crafts happen every Wednesday but book reviews can be turned in and games played any day of the week. Kids can sign up all summer, don’t miss out on all the fun! Adults, you can also participate by turning in book reviews and being entered in a raffle for over $100 in prizes! See you at the library!
