The Council Community Choir performed their annual Christmas concert at 4:00 p.m. Sunday evening. This year’s performance was themed “The Sounding Joy!” The event was held at Council Community Church and was well attended with an audience of around 150 people.

Council Community Choir director Wayne Freedman kicked off the event by inviting the audience to stand and join the choir in singing “Joy to the World”. The choir went on to delight the audience with a variety of Christmas songs, old and new. Dave Herold narrated between each song and several pieces included soloists. Everyone performed wonderfully and the singing was top notch. The concert lasted just over an hour and ended with the audience again being invited to stand and join in with the choir in a great finale singing “Hallelujah Chorus”. The event was followed by food and fellowship in the dining room.

The Council Community Choir was started around 12 years ago. Several people approached Wayne Freedman about starting a community choir and he put it all together. Every year the choir begins practicing for their Christmas concert the first week of September. They meet on Monday evenings at 5:30 p.m. and people of all ages are welcome to join. This years Council Community choir was made up of 32 members including 3 children, the narrator, the director and the sound crew.
