Council FFA kicked off the school year with its annual Opening Social on September 4, and the night was nothing short of a success! Members came together for food, games, and laughter, setting the tone for a strong year ahead.

There were two main themes for the evening: “Ladies Bring Dessert, Gentlemen Bring Salad,” which left the tables filled with plenty of food to enjoy, and after everyone ate, the Ag Olympics began. The Ag Olympics were a series of fun, competitive games such as potato sack racing, barrel racing with a broom, and a relay with small hay bales.

One of the three Vice Presidents, Tyree Veselka, shared his thoughts on the event, “The Social was a great time. The games were great, and it’s always nice to get the whole chapter together.” Our Historian, Yasmin Leon, also had something to say about the Social, “I thought it was a success. We had a lot of people show up, and many weren’t even FFA members. It was a great time.”

The Opening Social not only gave members the chance to reconnect after the summer but also welcomed new faces into the chapter, building excitement for the year ahead. Many members said it was one of the best socials they’ve attended (definitely one for the books!).

Events like these remind members that FFA is more than just competitions and projects. A big part is also the community and friendship. By kicking off the year with such strong participation, the chapter is setting itself up for a fun and successful year full of growth and opportunities.
