Council Home Destroyed by Fire

Council Valley Fire was called out to a structure fire at 200 N Railroad Street about 10:00 p.m. on Thanksgiving evening. No injuries were reported due to the fire.
Council Valley Fire called in mutual aid from Meadows Valley and Indian Valley fire departments. About 15-20 firefighters were fighting the fire and the last volunteer crews were on scene until about 1:00 a.m..
Nathaniel Maggard , who lived in this home, was very optimistic when reached by phone on Monday. He said that “all the support I have received so far is so overwhelming and so appreciated. I’m blown away by it and it’s awesome to me.” He went on to say that the hard part is over and that he now plans on rebuilding.
The Council Valley Fire Department was able to assist Nathaniel with funds from the Department’s Burnout Fund. This fund’s purpose is to help with the unexpected expenses following a fire like this.
Volunteers are gathering at the remains of the home on Saturday morning December 6 to start the demolition process. Reach out to Crissy Gipe at (208) 741-0483 if you would like to help or have questions.
There is also an active fundraising campaign to support Nathaniel as he recovers from the fire. The fundraiser can be viewed at https://tinyurl.com/493rc88n. At the time of this writing approximately $8,600 of the $10,000 goal has been raised. Additionally, an account at US Bank in Council is being setup to accept donations as well.
Lastly, donations to the Council Valley Fire Department Burnout Fund are always welcome.
