Council Lights Christmas Tree

Camille Collings, Council Correspondent
Council celebrated the start of the Christmas season over the weekend during multiple events that spanned both Saturday and Sunday, and there was a great turnout for all of them!
The Christmas Tree Lighting on Sunday night drew the largest crowd seen in the past few years, most likely due to the return of the Christmas Light Parade to Council. While there has been a Park and Glow for ATVs at the Tree lighting more recently, a full parade for Christmas hasn’t happened in a number of years. The Chamber of Commerce decided to bring it back this year as an expansion on the weekend events, and it was a hit! Over ten local businesses, organizations, and individuals turned out and dressed up vehicles in Christmas lights for the occasion.
Signature Plumbing, LLC sponsored the parade and gifted a holiday ham to the top three entries. The three winners were all new businesses in Council, highlighting the recent growth of the community! First place went to Arbor Ops Tree Service, with their lit up bucket truck, second was the new Council Inn, and third a lit up truck from C&M Roadside Assistance. Wilson’s Lounge provided fire pits and wood and M&W market provided lighter fluid. The Salty Heifer Cattle Company food truck came down and was making great tasty tallow-fried meals and Huptye had popcorn and hot chocolate for sale.
After the tree lighting, the crowd was surprised by a mystery fireworks show. The crowd was especially pleased that it did not rain on the parade twice in one year and it was an overall pleasant evening.
Thank you to everyone who helped the weekend events come together to celebrate Christmas in our little town.
