Council Quickly Outpaces Horseshoe Bend at Homecoming

Council raced out to a 52-0 halftime lead before coasting to a 58-6 victory in their first Long Pin Conference game of the year. Council struck quickly when Jim Tucker returned the opening kickoff 64 yards. Brody Davis then punched it in to give the Lumberjacks the lead. They would never look back. All players were able to contribute over the course of the game, both Varsity and JV. Six Lumberjack rushers reached double-digits; 11 players recorded tackles; and four players had interceptions. Decker McLinn had a well-rounded game for the Lumberjacks defensively. He had 5.5 tackles, an interception return for a touchdown, a sack, and a forced fumble. Wade Vining led the Lumberjacks with seven tackles, followed closely by Owen Hatfield with six. Tucker Laine provided a perfect display of blocking, blocking two different defenders one after the other that sprung his teammate Wyatt Tharp for a 64-yard touchdown. It was a well-rounded effort by the Lumberjacks as they now prepare for a road game in Cambridge to take on Tri-Valley.
