The Council School District Talent Show is returning soon for what promises to become an annual event! Last year, Rorrie Burgess spearheaded the talent show both as an effort to raise funds for the school music department and to help bridge the gap between the school district and the wider community “I want the participation and to really build that sense of community,” she said. It was wildly successful, with over ten entries, and raised over $1,000 for the music department, plus it was a lot of fun and everyone enjoyed it and wanted to see it return.

Auditions for the talent show are Thursday, April 16 at 4:15 at the Extension Office. All acts have to come and be approved. “It’s more so to make sure that they are going to be appropriate for school,” explained Rorrie. It is open to the whole district because she wanted everyone from the community to have an opportunity to participate. There will be a panel of three judges who will be awarding first, second, and third place prizes. The Council PTO is sponsoring the event and has purchased trophies for the winners as well as other prizes.

The Talent Show will take place at the Council High School Gym, on April 23 at 6:00 p.m. There is no entry fee for participants, but because it is a fundraiser there is a five dollar entrance fee at the door. Last year the funds raised were able to repair many of the school instruments. Rorrie is expecting the Talent Show to be even bigger this year, and said they already have several new acts. “It’s going to be exciting,” she said.
