“Crosswalks need to be painted across Hwy 95” was the wish expressed by Councilman Mike Rebman at Monday’s regular Midvale City Council meeting. With school in session it is even more critical since students live on the west side of town. The board directed clerk Mariah Johnson to write an official letter to ITD with the request so that a paper trail will be established regarding the issue. She mentioned that in the past the ITD failed to do the project when asked by the city, but she will try again.

The clerk attended Monday’s Washington County Commissioners meeting to report on the impact area surrounding Midvale. There have been no changes and the commission accepted the report.

A bid was received from Custom Pump Services to upgrade the equipment and electrical system in the city’s water pump house. The $17,000 bid would cover work that would be done in the spring. No action was taken on the bid.

When asked about a city attorney, Mariah reported that Midvale’s attorney is Jeffrey Schroeder from the Boise area.

The council approved a beer and wine permit for the Midvale Country Store. The business has already paid the $50 for the permit for the 2026 year.

Also approved was the hiring of Kellar Associates to oversee the grant process to pave the remainder of Canary Street up to River Street. The resurfacing has been completed on Canary Street west of Hwy 95. Included in the approval was the updating of the city’s transportation plan by Kellar.

All water customers were notified by mail or e-mail regarding the new water rate of $50 beginning in January 2026. The letter explained that the increase was to fund the drilling of a new well.

The next regular meeting of the council will be December 8 at 7 pm.
