On April 6th, hundreds of folks gathered at the Council Emergency Services building to have a good meal, dance and to raise money for the Burnout Fund. The Burnout Fund is for those whose homes have been damaged or destroyed in a fire to help them with the unexpected expenses of an emergency. These checks are often cut the same day so the family can get what they need as soon as possible.
About 300 meals were served to those in attendance. Fire Chief Shawn Stanford estimates that around $10,000 was raised, after expenses, for the Burnout Fund from ticket sales, silent auction and the live auction.
Additionally, boots on each table collected over $1,300 for Mark York’s family.
