On Sunday September 9, the Lava Fire was reported at 2,493 acres burned. By the end of that day it was listed at 30,000 acres. Tuesday morning at press time, the fire was listed at almost 70,000 acres with zero containment per the Watch Duty app. Sunday’s weather was warm and windy which undoubtedly contributed to the fire’s spread. The last half of this week is expected to be cooler with some rain.

In Indian Valley the areas of Little Weiser/South Greys Creek are under a Level 3 ‘Go’ evacuation order. The rest of Indian Valley is curently at a Level 2 ‘Get Set’ evacuation status and Mesa is at a Level 1 ‘Ready’ status.
