The tort claim filed by Council School District’s former Elementary Principal, Jenny Seubert, had moved to district court in Valley County and a jury trial was scheduled for early 2025.

The case has since been dismissed with prejudice, according to court records dated August 21st. These records state that the case “. . . having been fully compromised and settled, may be dismissed with prejudice and without costs or fees to any party.” This generally means that the matter was settled confidentially between the parties.

However, we don’t know this or the details of any agreement. A public records request for this information has been submitted.

Seubert had filed a tort claim against the district in June of 2023. Seubert later requested a jury trial in court records dated October 5, 2023. This trial had been scheduled for February next year, however that is now vacated. The complaint originally listed Council School District, Clete Edmunson and John and Jane Does 1-10 as defendants.

Seubert sought at least $250,000 in damages, interest, attorneys fees and ‘For all other forms of relief deemed just and appropriate by the court’ according to court documents.

Seubert was receiving her monthly salary of $6,242.83 through the end of her contract in July 2024, according to district payroll records listed on the district’s website. Up until approximately August 1, she had been listed as remote administration on the website. She is not currently listed as staff on the website and is no longer under contract with the district according to Mindy Ivey, the district business manager.
