Lincoln Day Dinner Held in Council

The Adams Council Republican Central Committee held their annual Lincoln Day event on Saturday, April 25 at the Adams County Rec Center. There was a huge turnout for the event and tickets sold out days in advance, a rarity for Adams County. Members of the central committee weren’t positive what sparked the sudden popularity, but suspected the large turnout was due in part to the advertised appearance of Republican Gubernatorial Candidate Mark Fitzpatrick, who is gaining popularity across the state and is seen as the only serious competition to current Governor Brad Little. Fitzpatrick’s speech at the dinner was well received by the crowd.
Other speakers included local candidates for County Clerk and County Commissioner, as well as Idaho GOP Chair, Dorthy Moon, and several legislative representatives and candidates. Awards were presented to winners of the high school essay contest on the topic “What does it mean to be a patriot in the 21st century?” First place went to Elise Eppich and Runner-up was Adriel Collings. A copy of their essays were printed out and on display at every table for guests to read. Dinner was catered by Broken Bowl Catering.
