Council’s track team had some excellent results at this year’s state track meet. Highlight’s included Kassidy Iveson besting her PR in the javelin by approximately 20 feet to take 2nd overall and the placings in all sprint relays by our boys relay teams. Here is a breakdown:

Girls:

Javelin: Kassidy Iveson 2nd, Sara Conaway 6th

Boys:

4x200 4th (Rowan Green, Owen Hatfield, Jim Tucker, Greer Green)

4x400 4th (Rowan Green, Owen Hatfield, Ayden Heinemeyer, Greer Green)

100m: Brody Clagg 5th

400m: Greer Green 5th, Rowan Green 9th

4x100 6th (Weston Zielinski, Ayden Heinemeyer, Jim Tucker, Brody Davis)

Triple Jump: Jim Tucker 8th

Javelin: Wyatt Hatfield 9th

It should be noted that next year, 2A and 1A will finally be split and have their own state championships. Until now, Council has had to compete in 2A. If it had happened this year, Council’s boys would have had a great chance to win state and many of these placings would have actually won their division at state. Next year, they will finally have their chance to compete solely against the 1A field at Districts and State, and will field a great team.

The Middle School Track Athletes have their own performances to be proud of.

The Idaho YMCA Middle School State track meet was held Saturday at Caldwell High School. It is an invitational reserved for the best athletes in the state.

Council had an amazing showing. Tylynn Tucker won the discus and shot, Oaklie Green won the 400m (the only runner to break 1 minute ), and Gunner Crowell won the discus for the 5/6 grade boys and got 2nd in shot.

That is four state champions, regardless of division. Tops in the entire state. What an amazing day! Rylee Hatfield and Braden Duncan also represented the Lumberjacks very well today.

Go Lumberjacks!
