Market Season Starts This Week
Summer is here and so is market season! The Council Mountain Farmers Market kicks off their eighth season this Friday, June 5, from 10-1 with the first farmers market of the year. Every year the market is growing, and there will be even more local producers coming to sell their wares this year, as well as brand new ones.
The Council Mountain Farmers Market takes place the 1st and 3rd Friday of the month at the park in downtown Council. One thing that Market Manager, Amanda Gratton, wanted to make sure everyone knew in advance was that markets would be canceled over the summer in the event of significant wildfire smoke, and she would try to call It as early in the week as possible. “I don’t like to call markets,” said Gratton, “but everybody’s health is far more important to me.”
The Midvale Farmers Market also started last Saturday, May 30, and will continue to run every Saturday from 9-12 throughout the summer season alongside the Weiser River Trail in Midvale. The New Meadows Community Farmers Market is also on Saturdays Mornings from 10-1:30, but gets started a little later in the season, near the end of June. The Council Mountain Farmers Market Starts on Friday and runs through the beginning of October. All of these wonderful markets are a great way to eat fresh, healthy, and support local producers!
