This past Thursday, January 22 Meadows Valley School showcased their learnings so far this year with their first semester Celebration of Learning event. Most of the Senior class gave their Senior Project presentations during the night’s events.

In the gym, elementary classes set up project displays. Preschool showed their lessons, science experiments, and art about germs. First grade showcased their improvements in writing skills with their “Love Notes.” Third grade’s table hosted pictures and student reports about the Little Salmon River and the Little Salmon River Watershed Collaborative group. Fourth grade displayed their Idaho State History binders as well as license plate art they created showcasing each county in the state. Eighth graders showcased Lego projects and essays about life in the Thirteen Colonies as well as math related to the school’s Potato Day events.

Beginning at 4:30 p.m. and continuing in 15 minute increments, presentations occurred in classrooms, the library, and the cafeteria. Senior projects were given in the science classroom featuring:

Angel - Art classes and art boxes for elementary students

Jake - Earning his CDL (Commercial Drivers License)

Xaiya - Forming a band club and organizing a concert

Olivia - SAT & ASVAB test preparation pivoting into interviewing teachers

Jacklyn - Breast Cancer Awareness and events

Breyden - Culinary Arts

This is a very brief summation of these students’ community oriented projects. We look forward to sharing more in a future article.

Students put their speech skills to work in groups and individually showcasing interactive presentations like the Fifth grade’s Escape Room, Second grade’s skit about their coloring supply drive for St. Luke’s Hospital, and a mock crime scene experience. Paired and solo speeches and slideshows featured a range of topics including chicken egg incubation, two bake sale fundraisers, pixel art and Javascript graphics, the history of diesel trucks, teaching anatomy, CPR certification, compound bow hunting, real estate career exploration, an art portfolio, the importance of reading, honoring veterans, a fire pit, food and clothing drives, and working with the local food bank and thrift store.

These projects included ways to help fellow students and the community at large. Meadows Valley students are making an impact while learning life lessons.
