Midvale 4th of July Parade and BBQ
Get out your flags and banners. Bring a lawn chair for the shade. Plan on bringing baskets for the kiddies to catch parade goodies. Midvale will again be celebrating the Fourth of July with a parade, BBQ, duck race and free swimming. Note: bringing your own seating will make your day much more comfortable, especially for the BBQ.
Line-up for the “anyone-can-enter” parade will be up at the school at 10:30 a.m. At 11:00 a.m. it will wind through town, past the park and end at the Church of Christ.
Following the parade the pool committee will be serving a BBQ meal in front of the pool. For $8 a plate you can have a burger, hot dog, potato salad, baked beans and cookies. Be sure to find a place in the shady park across the street to park your lawn chair and visit with the neighbors. The BBQ will be served until 2:00 p.m. Donations toward the BBQ expenses are tax deductible and can be sent to Midvale Pool, PO Box 4, Midvale, ID 83645.
At 1:00 p.m. the annual duck raffle will be held in the pool. There are $500 in prizes just waiting for someone to win them. Raffle tickets are $2 each, or get three for $5. Prizes include a car detail and oil change at Larry Miller Subaru donated by Ty Leuthold, and camp chairs and cooler donated by BiMart and an anonymous donor.
The rest of the day can be spent enjoying a free swim in the pool. Open swim will be 1-7, and family swim will be 7-9.
The event is sponsored by the Midvale Swim Pool as one of its largest fundraisers. The pool, which is totally self-funded, receives no tax monies and relies on pool passes, fund raisers and donations to meet its expenses. Members of the Midvale Swimming Pool board are Angela Cardenas, Jessica Mikek, Cassidy Rose, Aubree Walker, Dorothy Bayes, Carly Jackich, Chelsea Doggett, Laci Steed and Jeris Tyler.
