Mountaineer Ruth Places First at Districts, Qualifies for State

Meadows Valley Track & Field competed at the District 3 2A/3A Championships on May 8 and 9 achieving some personal bests and a first place win for junior Natalie Ruth, qualifying her to head to State Championships in Middleton this coming weekend. This will be Ruth’s second time competing in pole vault at State. Her win came after she reached a height of 9’6” in the 2A Varsity division, topping everyone else in the event by 6 inches. Ruth’s personal best for the season so far is 9’9” - a personal and school record.

Mountaineers earned personal bests in four other events at the meet. Ninth grader Buck Howard achieved a personal best in the 200m with a time of 27.76 seconds. Senior Jackie Steiner achieved a personal best in 4kg shot put with a distance of 24’7” and took 6th place in javelin with a distance of 80’8”. Ruth had a season best time in the 100m at 14.26 seconds. Junior Casen White achieved a personal best in 12lb shotput with a distance of 32’3.”
