MVS Wins $586 in Idaho Lottery Fundraiser
Meadows Valley School Board had a meeting March 12, 2024. Dee Fredrickson reported that February and March have been extremely busy. She and Jeffrey Luff attended technology training. Right after that, Dee talked to some legislators about hot topics that would affect education this year. She had lunch with Representative Charlie Shepherd and learned a lot. Then, she had Superintendent Network training. They talked a lot about using the Marzano Framework: The New Art and Science of Teaching. They’ve also been working on a grant and have completed the NAEP testing. She talked about some security updates and a few repairs that are needed including the changes that Chris Peterson suggested for the emergency system. The students participated in an event called Reality Town to reenact life skills like spending money. MVS went to Scratch for Schools in McCall and won $586. This is a fundraising event given by the Idaho Lottery which has given more than $1,664,435 to Idaho Schools since 2001.
Under action items, two boys that have graduated were approved to be two senior girl’s prom dates. Asa Brusso was approved for early graduation in October. He has completed Semester 1, work, and did six online classes over the summer. The backpacking science field trip was approved. The Idaho Safe Schools Securing Our Future Grant has been awarded to MVS for security cameras. Now an application for up to $200,000 is being sought. It would be for changes in school access control. The board was in approval within the scope of work in the grant application. The Trustees also approved looking into starting a middle school golf program and lastly, terminated Summit Learning.
The next meeting will be April 9 in the school library at 7:00 p.m..
