Mayor Julie Good was absent at the regular New Meadows City Council meeting on March 25, 2024. Council member Shiloh Ryker filled in for her. In the mayor’s written report, the mayor acknowledged that road conditions are tough in the spring and encouraged everyone to drive slowly because erosion only gets worse with speed. The report also said the city pound is in operation and has been in use already.

A representative from iiiA Insurance was present via Zoom and gave the annual report. Some of the things reported were a dental health change to Delta Dental, the onsite wellness screenings were a success, finding, among other things, 2 Stage 1 melanomas. Also, their mental health coverage and first responder hotline are available and being used.

The Idaho Workforce Development Council has awarded New Meadows a $600,000 grant to get a preschool and daycare running. A child care advisory group was approved by the council who were excited that this would be great for families and the community.

The Industrial Park Lease for All Seasons HVAC and Refrigeration was approved. The Industrial Park Lease Amendment for that lease was tabled until the next meeting.

There was a status report for Browns Mountain Recycling CUP which was approved with conditions on size of lilac bushes and descriptions of farm equipment. DEQ will be meeting on site to see if Brown’s is in compliance. Tim Jeffs RV Use Permit was not renewed because he is leaving the property.

Dust abatement will take place the 3rd week in June and there will be no change in cost from last year.

A Community Service Policy was accepted.

A proclamation was made to declare The Week of the Young Child as April 8-12, 2024. This celebrates child development as well as those that work with children to cultivate growth and positive experiences.

There was discussion about a Stibnite Grant for $5,000 or less and what the council would like the money for. This was tabled to allow the council to think about it.

A wage of $25/hr was granted to Angie Mettie for training the new city clerk.

Kyla Gardner was designated the administrator for a potential proposed subdivision.

Future meeting topics are the Industrial Park Lease Amendment, declaring April as child abuse prevention month, the Stibnite Grant, city road improvement, Brown’s Recycling, and a Chamber of Commerce or business association.
