The Adams County Planning and Zoning Commission recently held a public hearing regarding an application for a 20 space RV park. This application was for a Conditional Use Permit to allow this business on Hotsprings road about 1 mile north of Highway 95 in New Meadows.

The Planning & Zoning Commission recommended denying this application to the Adams County Board of County Commissioners. They also recommended that the county commissioners hold their own public hearing to capture all available public input, according to Meredith Fisher, the Adams County Planning & Zoning coordinator.

Fisher went on to tell me that the public comment for this application was ‘overwhelmingly not in support.’ In fact, every comment submitted in writing to the commission, and every comment from the six who testified in person was against issuing this permit.

All six members of the Planning and Zoning Commission voted to deny this application because it is not in compliance with Ordinance 2006-3. Specifically, that this project would be detrimental to adjoining properties, it is not a public necessity and that the project is not in harmony with the area it would be located.

The Board of County Commissioners will have the final vote on this project in the near future. If they hold a public hearing regarding this project, it will be reported here in the Legal Notices.
