Kids young and old visited the Meadows Valley Library Storytime this past Wednesday, November 13. Library staff Kayrene Brown, Melody Brown, and Director Audrey Crogh welcomed everyone in from the blustery weather. Volunteer Marlene Clark read Amelia Bedelia’s First Apple Pie by Herman Parish and Annie The Apple Pie Fairy by Thomas Nelson.

Clark, wearing a pumpkin pie headband, had a basket of apples set next to her during the readings. She showed the children the various apples in her basket and talked about their interesting names like Granny Smith, Red Delicious, and one called Lucy Glo that is bright red inside.

After the stories, Crogh led children in making a few crafts. The first was a gratefulness spinning reveal wheel. Kids could draw or write what they are thankful for on each segment and then spin the wheel to see. Next, they made a thankfulness box that looks like a pumpkin pie. Inside the box are paper pie slices that say “I’m thankful for” on the crust. These would be a cute addition to the Thanksgiving table. Last, the children colored and folded “joke tellers.” Each child also received an individual pie and a bookmark.

The next storytime is scheduled for Wednesday, December 8 at 4:00 p.m. The library also hosts a monthly book club on the first Wednesday of each month at 7:00 p.m. The library website meadowsvalley.lili.org may be consulted for further details.
