Volunteer Marlene Clark read “It’s Pumpkin Day, Mouse!” and “The Gray Mouse and the Pumpkin Patch House” to 49 attentive children at the Meadows Valley Library on Wednesday, October 9. Clark always dresses the part, and this time was no exception, as she wore a pumpkin costume accented by a mouse ear headband.

After the stories, children carefully zoomed to the community room for craft time. Kids received a lollipop and some themed activity sheets. After a few minutes, Librarian Audrey Crogh led the children in making an adorable 3-D pumpkin house complete with a little foam mouse.

Story Time takes place on the second Wednesday of each month. The next program is titled “Pie” and will be on Wednesday, November 13. All children and their families are welcome.

Starting this week the library welcomes Food for Fines. This exchange program gives people the opportunity to donate non-perishable groceries as payment for overdue fines. One grocery item will cover the fine for one library item returned late or overdue. Food for Fines runs through Friday, November 15. Additional non fine related donations are welcome! Collection items will be donated to the New Meadows Food Bank to help local families.
