Securing Our Future Safety Grant

The Council School District staff is preparing two safety grant applications. The State Department of Education is sponsoring the grant, Securing Our Future. Both the elementary and the Jr./Sr. high school are eligible to apply for a $200,000 grant award. These competitive grants will be awarded this spring with a target date for announcing winners on April 1st.

The elementary focus is to place modern surveillance cameras around the school perimeter and in the hallways of the interior. The secondary school focus is to install an intercom public address system that will connect all classrooms and other locations of occupancy. Both efforts are designed to improve the safety for students, staff and all visitors to the campus. The improvements will improve both the visual and the messaging response times to help keep our buildings safe.
