Every fall, when school begins, the students at Cambridge High School have the opportunity to sign up for a program called “Paws Pals.” This is a program that began over 20 years ago to give encouragement to all Cambridge High School students.

At last week’s school registration, all high school students received a form to complete and return if they were interested in joining Paws Pals. The form helps Paws Pals sponsors to learn more about each student. Some of the questions on the form include: favorite books, music, hobbies, and colors; T-shirt size; and the activities and sports they participate in.

After a sponsor agrees to participate in the program, the sponsor receives a letter with additional information about Paws Pals, along with their student’s completed form. The letter explains the program guidelines, including the expectation of giving a small gift or special treat once a month, with sponsor spending limited to $25 per month.

The sponsor letter clearly states the mission behind the Paws Pals Program: “Every Student Matters!” Christy Crocco shared that she has seen how meaningful it is for students to be remembered. She recalled hearing a student say, “I was having a really tough day and this special treat arrived from my sponsor, which made my whole day.”

45 students will need a Paws Pals sponsor for the 2025-26 school year. At this time, there are 15 confirmed sponsors, and 30 more are needed. If you are interested in volunteering to sponsor a student, please contact Christy Crocco at (208) 989-7015.
