Springer and Mann to be Added to School Photo History Wall
Sports fans coming to the Midvale gym will be treated to an expanded photo wall which currently covers most of the hallway outside the gym with pictures of Midvale school history. Another five feet will be added and will include winning girls’ basketball coach Jeff Springer and his team and also will include construction teacher Vic Mann. Superintendent Kylee Morris, who is leaving her position with the school, mentioned that before she left it was important to include those two men on the wall.
Driving onto the school grounds between the old and new buildings and behind the old gym will be dryer and smoother thanks to the paving project done this month. Also the standing water problem is solved with the water draining off the pavement and back to the grassy area to the east.
The roofing project is continuing on the gym and old high school buildings.
The school is fully staffed. New superintendent Matt Jones and new clerk Sara Kindall were at the June 23 board meeting.
In action items, the board approved raising adult meal prices. They also approved Moreton Insurance for the district’s insurer. The company provides full replacement cost for loss, cyber protection, omission error protection and full cost of replacement in case of a flood on the gym floor. The annual premium is $40,862.
The board also approved the 2025-2026 budget as presented. It includes $600,850 from the state HB521 which is to be used for facilities improvements for the next ten years. The district currently has enough funds in reserve to operate for eight months. Those monies are earning interest for the district. There is no guarantee that state funding will remain as high as it is now, and there is talk of a holdback coming in the future, necessitating the use of the reserve. Also the Idaho Power judgment levy will be $86,213 which will show up on property owners’ tax bills this year as “Midvale School Judgment”.
The next regular meeting of the board will be July 28 at 7:00 p.m..
