On Saturday, April 27th, eight locals received certificates for completing the Emergency Medical Technician course with Council Valley Ambulance and swore the EMS Oath in front of other Council Valley Ambulance personnel. The EMT class started last October, and students had been working all winter long under the supervision of instructor Vivian Ratcliff (G.G.).

Saturday, the class spent the morning with a field day simulation of a multi-patient vehicle accident, while being supervised and critiqued by other Council EMT’s. After the simulated incident, everyone returned to the EMS building for a potluck, feedback, and the presenting of certificates and swearing in.

Before becoming fully licensed as EMT’s, the students still have to take the National Registry (NREMT) exam, which they will be studying for over the next few months. Several students plan to join Council Valley Ambulance after becoming fully licensed while others plan to serve in nearby communities.

Congratulations to all participants and thank you to G.G. for all of her time and dedication spent training the next generation of EMT’s in Council!
