Suicide Prevention Training, Mar. 5
On Monday, February 26, 2024, a New Meadows City Council Regular Meeting and Public Hearing was held.
The City is looking for another funding partner for the Gold Line Transit program. The mayor also has been asking the Adams County Commissioners about the ACHC mobile clinic and getting it to be operational in New Meadows, but the clinic still is not available.
A 2nd Annual Goodbye Winter, Hello Spring event is being planned by Parks and Rec for March 9 at the park and the Community Center. The depot will also be open, youth sports sign-ups will begin, tours of the city’s water facilities at the park will be given, and kids will do a craft to be hung in the park’s kiosk. Other local organizations, like the library and Ignite Idaho, have been invited to share about community events coming up in the fall.
Diane Hunter was hired as the new deputy clerk. She was approved to become a Notary.
Jace, from Clearwater Financial, met with the Mayor recently to give an update on the financial planning process.
The school is having the reader board at the park redone. It will take up the same footprint when replaced.
Research is being done to see what the baseball field needs.
The broken flashing crosswalk sign should be fixed by the end of next week.
Work will be started to get the industrial park sign moved across the street and the Dorsey Warr Memorial Stone will be put back in the park as soon as it’s dry enough.
Shiloh serves as a city representative on VCORP (Valley County Opioid Response Project) and gave a status report. The project represents Valley County and New Meadows. They work on understanding behavioral health and help many community groups with funding.
There is a free suicide prevention training at the library on March 5th from 4:30 - 6:00 p.m. Anyone is welcome.
The council discussed tiny home foundation descriptions and definitions. More discussion and revisions to the current definition will be discussed at the next meeting.
The Public Hearing consisted of Dodd Snodgrass giving an update on the Idaho Community Development Association. They assisted the city with getting a grant for the city’s water project which began in 2018. He reviewed the funded activities with the Council since the project is almost done. Phase 1 and 2 were completed in 2019, Phase 3 was completed in 2021, Phase 4 in 2023 and Phase 5 should be completed soon.
The council discussed the Industrial Park lease for All Seasons and it will be put back on a future agenda for review of the discount points they qualify for this year.
Willie Brown was present to give a status report for Brown’s Mountain Recycling CUP.
Sending Ivan McDaniel to the Spring Idaho Rural Water Association Conference was approved.
The sewer expense list was reviewed and an employee wage change was made.
Future meeting topics will be tiny home foundations, All Seasons HVAC, a presentation from the City’s health insurance provider and sewer rates.
