Kids doing water activities at the Cambridge Library summer camp field day.

Summer is officially in full swing and the town of Cambridge is bustling. This week the First Baptist Church held Vacation Bible School for kids of preschool age and up, which was a big success. They had a wonderful turnout this year of 30+ kids. The theme this year was Jungle Journey which was filled with lessons on science, arts & crafts, games, and music. It wrapped up this Friday with a BBQ picnic at the water tower. Thank you to all the volunteers who took the time to put this together for the kids! Also, the Baptist Church hosts a Mommy & Me community play date every second Monday of the month at 10:00 a.m. If you’re looking to connect and make some new friends, be sure to check it out.

Mark your calendars for the summer reading camp at the Cambridge Library. The camp begins July 3rd and will be every Wednesday in July from 2:00-4:30 p.m. Heidi Hoskins has been hard at work for weeks now preparing an array of enriching activities around science, astronomy, and world adventures. The theme this year is Summer Adventures, and places you’ve been. Heidi herself has been helping plan the summer reading program for 4 years now with the library doing it for about 12+ years. They strive to make it not only educational and informative but fun as well, with the hopes of making budding new readers amongst us. Kids will participate in arts & crafts, games, and group-building projects that patrons will get to vote on. Snacks will be provided for the children and camp will end with a field day and pizza party! Kids who are younger than 6 years old are welcome to participate with an accompanying adult. You can come in anytime to sign up, parents will need to sign a permission slip since activities will be held in the adult section of the library but they assure you kids will not be allowed to browse through the adult section. The library welcomes volunteers to help with camp and even allows kids from 11 and up to help out as well. Be ready for loads of fun!

Finally don’t forget that every Monday from 6:00-7:30 p.m. the Cambridge Assembly of God joins together to celebrate recovery.
