Thanksgiving Through the Eyes of 6th Graders

Mrs. Robyn Warner’s 6th grade class at Council Elementary wrote short essays about Thanksgiving and what they are thankful for. Several are printed below. More will be printed next week.

Kim Mendenhall

I am thankful for all the people around me. My family has been there to support me in all the choices I’ve made. My friends for always being there for me and making me laugh. I am especially grateful for the community who have been at my basketball, volleyball games and have clapped even though they don’t know who I am.

My church leaders who have helped me set goals. I thank all the school staff who have helped me accomplish my goals and achieve a higher standard. I am very thankful for all the people who have helped me be who I am today.

Lael López

I’m thankful for my family for always being there for me, working hard to take care of me, and making sacrifices that they make. I’m thankful for my dog, Dobby, for making me happy and always being by my side. I’m thankful for school to teach me a lot of things, making me smarter, and spending time with all of the students.

I’m thankful to my friends for picking me up when I fall and making feel better. I’m thankful for God for helping do the right things, helping me with my problems, and always being there when I need Him.

I’m thankful for my mom and my dad for teaching me to be a good kid and always fighting for me.

Heather Starley

I am thankful for this class, because some people in here helped me through a lot. Especially Mrs. Warner, I am going through a lot.

I would never be friends with Noah, Mady, Presley, Oaklie, Kim, Apollo and Sutter if I was born a month earlier. I need some people in here to be happy.

I will never be more grateful for moving here. This class is like my family. It’s my favorite thing in the entire world, beside my family. I feel like a I can be myself around this class. I feel open. This class is super nice to me. This family is the best ever.
