Thrifty Shoppe Gets an Upgrade

Council’s Thrifty Shoppe will be open again by the time you read this after getting an entirely new set of windows up front and a new door. Dillon LaGrone, owner of LaGrone Consuction, was the General Contractor for this project. Danny Beachy did the electrical work,

Roy Grossen, President of the Adams County Healthcare Foundation, was happy to show off the project. According to Roy the new windows will be more energy efficient then the old single pane windows. With the installation of the new door the contractors were able to remove that small ‘hump’ in the entry way that a few elderly patrons have tripped on Roy said. (The Adams County Healthcare Foundation is the official non-profit entity behind the Thrifty Shoppe.)

If you know Roy, you know his passion for the Thrifty Shoppe. What he cares most about is being able to provide low cost, used goods to families who need to keep a little more of their money instead of handing it over to a big box store.

The Thrifty Shoppe recently was able to give back over $82,000 to the community in the form of grants and scholarships this year. Roy says they’re able to do a little more each year, thanks to everyones donations.
