The library is a fantastic resource. At Meadows Valley Library you can find a plethora of new and classic books and movies. You can also find information about upcoming library and local events. Monthly events may include family storytime, maker classes, and adult book club. In the winter, the library is a designated warming site and in the summer, a cooling site. Usually the bookshelf across from the checkout desk hosts information and resources like maps, free magazines, and medicine disposal kits. There are used books for sale, educational game systems for children, computers, classes, a huge collection of Idaho and local history books and resources, and so much more.

Story Time is free and takes place on the second Wednesday of each month from 4 - 4:45 p.m. These events generally include reading of two children’s books, a craft or activity, and a snack. All children and their families are welcome.

On Wednesday, December 11 the library hosted Candy Cane storytime with 35 children attending. Volunteer Marlene Clark read The Candy Cane Fiasco by Rachel Hilz and Katie the Candy Cane Fairy by Tim Bugbird. Afterward, Librarian Audrey Crogh led the kids in candy cane bingo with Kayrene Brown and Melody Brown assisting. Bingo winners received candy filled plastic candy canes or candy cane accessories. Robot themed Story Time is scheduled for Wednesday, January 8 at 4:00 p.m..

Maker classes are currently available monthly through May. Classes have a small materials fee and are generally for people age 16 and up. These have limited space, but there are a few spots left for the following classes:

January 22 - Decorative Bear Gourds

March 19 - Crochet Citrus Scrubbies

April 15 - Diamond Painting Compact Mirrors

May 21 - Yarn Coil Trivet

More classes will be added after May. People interested in attending or leading a class can contact the library by coming in during open hours, calling (208) 347-3147 or emailing audrey@mvpubliclibrary.com.

Book Club’s next meeting will be on Wednesday, January 8 at 7:00 p.m. The group will discuss Her Mother’s Hope by Francine Rivers.

You can support your local library by visiting, making donations, volunteering, or by becoming an official Friend of the Library. For more information on Friends, visit the library during open hours. Visiting speakers, additional maker classes, and travelogues will be scheduled in the spring. Check in at the library or on their website meadowsvalley.lili.org for information. Library winter hours are Monday through Friday 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m..
