Washington County Commissioner District 2

Chris Christopherson

Chris Christopherson, a faith-forward conservative Republican and Washington County resident, has announced his candidacy for Washington County Commissioner, District 2. With more than three decades of public service and deep roots in rural life, Christopherson says he is running to protect the values that define the community and ensure local government remains accountable to its citizens.

“I’m running to serve the people of Washington County with integrity, transparency, and common sense,” Christopherson said. “This is a place where faith, family, and hard work still matter, and I want to make sure those values continue to guide our future.”

Christopherson’s campaign focuses on protecting property rights, supporting responsible budgeting, and preserving the county’s rural character and agricultural heritage. He also emphasizes strong support for law enforcement and first responders, along with a commitment to defending constitutional liberties and faith-based principles important to many local families.

Raised on a small family farm, Christopherson developed an early appreciation for hard work and rural life. He later worked on a large cattle ranch, further shaping his understanding of agriculture and land stewardship. At age 17, he began his career in public service as a volunteer firefighter, launching what would become a 30-plus-year career in fire service and law enforcement.

Over the course of his career with CAL FIRE, Christopherson rose through the ranks from volunteer to Battalion Chief. His experience includes leadership roles in operations, training, fire prevention, and law enforcement. He also served as a State Peace Officer and spent five years on a Type 1 Incident Management Team as a Public Information Officer, working as part of a command staff on complex emergency incidents.

In addition to his state service, Christopherson has gained hands-on experience at the county level. In 2023, he joined the Washington County Road and Bridge Department, where he now serves as Sign Program Manager. In that role, he works on infrastructure maintenance, right-of-way asset tracking, road repair projects, and equipment operations, including snow removal. He has also contributed to develop a county online permit application process.

Christopherson remains active in local Republican leadership and community service. In 2024, he was elected Sunnyside Precinct Committeeman and later chosen as Chairman during the county party’s reorganization meeting.

He says his leadership style is grounded in accountability and responsiveness to residents. “Local government should work for the people—not the other way around,” he said. “Washington County deserves leadership that respects taxpayers, protects private property, and stands firmly for our way of life.”

Christopherson and his wife of 25 years have raised four daughters and remain deeply invested in the future of the community. He says his campaign is about ensuring Washington County remains a place where families can thrive, businesses can grow, and traditional values are respected.

“I invite the people of Washington County to join me in building a strong future for our county,” Christopherson said.

Kevin Jones

Kevin Jones is running for Washington County Commissioner, District 2, with a clear purpose: to bring seasoned, private-sector management experience to a county facing growing challenges. After 40 years in leadership roles—including three decades managing Weiser Feed & Storage—Jones offers a track record built on stability, sound judgment, and accountability. He emphasizes that he is not a career politician seeking a legislative role, but a manager focused on running efficient operations, solving problems, and building trust. As he puts it, “I view this campaign process as really me applying for a management job with the county.”

Kevin is married to his wife of 40 years, Shamra. Together, they raised two sons who graduated from Weiser High School and went on to earn college degrees—one from Boise State University and the other from the University of Idaho.

His long tenure in business reflects his management philosophy. He maintained a loyal workforce, avoided lawsuits, and kept operations efficient and customer-focused through multiple economic cycles. Drawing on early experience in human resources, Kevin places strong emphasis on improving employee morale and relationships by ensuring employees feel valued and respected. He also understands the importance of collaboration and would work to strengthen communication between elected officials and county departments.

Financial stewardship is another priority. Jones plans to carefully examine both expenses and revenue, ensuring tax dollars are used responsibly. He recognizes Clerk Donna White’s financial expertise and dedication to the county and looks forward to working with her.

Jones also emphasizes the need for well-prepared leadership on the Board of County Commissioners. He is committed to doing the homework—thoroughly researching issues before any vote is brought forward. He has expressed support for Commissioner Jim Harberd, who is running unopposed for District 1.

Service has been a cornerstone of Kevin and Shamra’s life in Washington County. They have long supported the Weiser community, including through Weiser Feed & Storage’s donation of the land where the Weiser Community Pond now stands—an investment that continues to benefit local families. Each year, they also volunteer their time to help maintain the area.

Their commitment to the community extends even further. Kevin, along with two friends, helped found the popular annual Gin Rummy fundraiser and led it for its first 8 years, with proceeds benefiting the Ho Ho Express. Through Weiser Feed & Storage, he also made it a priority to support the Washington County Fair by providing non-interest-bearing credit accounts for projects and purchasing animals each year—ensuring continued support at the sale, even when he was unable to attend.

A resident of Washington County for more than 50 years, Jones brings both experience and deep local roots. His candidacy is grounded in service, not personal ambition. “I feel like at this particular juncture, my skill set and management background are particularly suited to the needs of our county,” he says.

Because leadership should always put people first.

Stacy Walker

My name is Stacy Walker and I would appreciate your vote for Washington County Assessor! I am a lifelong Idahoan, and consider Washington County my home. I am the daughter of the late, retired sheriff of Washington County, Marvin Williams. I am married to my husband, Brit Walker and we have 5 grown children/12 grandchildren. I am a dependable professional with decades of real world experience and a strong record of public service, accountability, and integrity. My career has been built on honesty, professionalism, and a commitment to serving others. I have spent my career getting the job done!

My background spans county government (3 counties), court operations, customer service, office management and financial administration. In each role, I have been trusted to handle responsibility with accuracy, confidentiality and professionalism.

I currently work as a full-time Washington County employee working in 2 departments & 3 desks each week. I work as an administrative assistant for Road & Bridge/Solid Waste paying the bills on a weekly basis. I also work for the Washington County Sheriff’s office handling the public records requests as well as records requests to the prosecutor’s offices. One day a week, I also cover the front desk of the sheriff’s office handling civil duties as well as my records requests. I do all that while also currently serving as the Washington County State Committeewoman and Region IV Secretary for the Idaho GOP (Republican Party).

As you can see by my background, I have a lot of county government experience adding up to 13+ years in county government. In addition, I bring more than 25 years in the private sector as a Credit Specialist II for Idaho Pacific Lumber Co., a customer service rep for DirecTV, office manager for Aubrey Drywall, ISAT Proctor and substitute teacher for the Kuna School District, and multiple roles in the insurance industry with John Alden Life Insurance Company.

Each of these roles has taught me valuable lessons and skills that I want to bring to the Assessor’s office as your newly elected Washington County Assessor. For each position, I have had new computer programs and procedures to learn and master. I am ready to do the same for the Assessor’s office! The Assessor’s office duties are indeed set by state statute but we also need fair and transparent property assessments with accurate maps and records so that you are taxed only on your property and not part of your neighbor’s property. I am committed to working hard for the citizens of Washington County and look forward to leading the current employees of the Assessor’s office into a brighter future where rules and laws are applied fairly and equally to ALL citizens of Washington County!

Please join me on Facebook at Elect Stacy Walker for Washington County Assessor or email me at Stacywalkerforassessor@gmail.com I look forward to hearing from you and I humbly ask for your vote on May 19th for Stacy Walker as your Washington County Assessor
