Last Tuesday night, August 13, the City Council met for their monthly meeting.

The city engineer is working on a water project and designing a new distribution reroute including a booster station up on the hill. They are submitting for an infrastructure grant that will help cover the expenses and are hopeful to be approved since they meet all of the requirements.

The airport has been working with the fire helicopters that are fighting the Limepoint Fire. The next airport Commission meeting will be August 26, 6:00 p.m. at Hangar #5.

There were quick discussions about the fill station meter being repaired, the fire hydrant that was accidentally run over by a semi truck in front of Cenex, the need for a vac truck and the possibility of budgeting for a used one, and the remodeling of the City Hall office.

Three public hearings were held. The first was regarding the city’s proposed budget for 2025.

The second hearing was a variance application for Mr. Mahon. Mr. & Mrs. Mahon spoke in regards to a residence they own with very narrow property lines. They were requesting an extension of two feet for a porch overhang, but based on not pulling a permit initially and some other factors, the variance was denied.

The third public hearing was for a conditional use permit for Ryan Idleman for his property to be a mixed use. This was approved as well as a water/sewer agreement with the city.

The next City Council meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, September 10, 2024.
