Veterans Memorial Hall future was the subject of discussion at the regular meeting of the Midvale City Council Monday evening. Due to changes in the organizations who use the building, the local American Legion and the VFW, the local VFW will be absorbed into the Payette VFW post. Mayor Brian Graham is trying to contact VFW members to see what the future of the building will be. It is owned by the VFW. All city council members were concerned that the building may not be available to the community. The Veterans Memorial Hall is used heavily by local families for reunions, meetings of the LIONS Club, funerals, parties, health fair, voting, church services, and was open last year for the rainy 4th of July BBQ. The council is very interested to see that the Midvale community does not lose the use of the building. Brian will keep trying to contact those who may know what can be done, if anything, by the city.

The council approved a request by the Swimming Pool board for the use of the park for the July 4th BBQ. They tabled a request by Paul Evans regarding the installation of a fence around the children’s play area in the park. Midvale Community Partners would pay for the fence. Most of the play area sits on Weiser River Trail property.

Clerk Mariah Johnson reported that the city’s insurance premium will be just over $7,000 next year. That will be discussed at the budget hearing to be held in August.

The next regular meeting of the council will be July 13 at 7:00 p.m..
