YMCA Middle School Invitational

Meadows Valley Middle School athletes Lily Juica, Emily Peterson and Boaz Reynaga competed alongside kids from 63 other Idaho and Oregon schools at the YMCA Middle School Track & Field Championships on Saturday, May 23. Juica qualified in 4kg shotput, Peterson in 100m hurdles, triple jump and long jump, and Reynaga in high jump, triple jump, long jump, and 200m. Athletes Ryder Rautsaw and Remyi Tennis also qualified for the meet but were not able to attend. The athletes were supported by family, friends and their coaches Sally Carpenter and Bart Carpenter.

Highlights included Reynaga’s second place finish in high jump with a personal best of 4’ 6” and his fourth place finish in triple jump with a personal best distance of 27’ 5”. Peterson placed 17th in the triple jump with a distance of 25’ 4” and Juica took 17th in 4kg shotput with a throw of 21’ 5”. Reynaga also took 8th in the 200m with a time of 32:46 and earned a three way tie for 6th in long jump with a distance of 12’ 4”.
