Legacy

Reflecting on our travels in Europe we find we learned much about the culture and the history of the places we visited. The primary thing I hold onto is the idea of being people centric- being focused on people and the needs they have and the joys, trials and comforts we all experience. Most of all I treasure the rich history that has been left behind for us to discover. The historical sites help us know with more depth our traditions and religious systems. That is important to me. Some time ago in 2003 I wrote a poem about leaving a legacy and what it would do for those who came after. I share that with you today in hopes you will think about what you leave behind, not just in material goods, but in spirit and in truth. May you be blessed.

I want to leave a legacy, something of the soul. things that bless and tickle me. A foundation on which to grow. I want to share the most profound, and communicate how I have found, life’s ebb and flow and thorny trails, have brought victory through many ails.

When I am gone what will you find among the things I leave behind?

Will my family cry through laughter sweet, and find their comfort at Christ’s feet? Please dear Lord when I am gone, Let them find the saved way home by what I’ve left behind.
