I’m sorry that my column didn’t appear in the paper last week. I wrote it from home on Sunday, and sent it, however it just sent a blank email. By the time I got back to work, on Tuesday, it was already too late, the articles had already been sent to the printers.
I got a call from Brad Talbutt from SHIBA (Senior Health Insurance Advisors) which is a part of the Idaho Department of Insurance. They disseminate information to the senior population regarding insurance programs that deal with Medicare, MediGap insurance, and Medicare Advantage programs.
He told me that there are lots of changes this year both in the number of programs offered and the cost of the programs. The number of advantage programs is dropping especially in rural areas. And the cost is going up on the ones that are left.
Open enrollment starts on October 15th, and runs through December 7th. Brad will be here on Wednesday, October 29th. If you would like to schedule an appointment, call 1-(800) 247-4422.
This is a free, unbiased program, to help you make the best decisions for your healthcare.
