Setting the Record Straight — WA County needs Truthfulness

Carolyn Kiesz, Midvale
April 8, 2026

When I read the campaign ad for Kevin Jones in the Weiser paper, I noticed a few things.

Jones touted his expertise in management skills and his record of “sound judgement and accountability.” He was very critical of WA County and claimed the County had “recently lost multiple wrongful termination cases.” This is FALSE. There have been no “recent” wrongful termination lawsuits either filed, or lost, by WA County. I checked with the Prosecutor’s Office. Jones didn’t mention anything about his truthfulness or integrity.

Jones said he supports Jim Harberd, showing he may not have the sound judgement he touts. Harberd ignored legal advice on “the Moratorium,” a vote causing a Federal Lawsuit to be filed against WA County. Additionally, when all parties to that lawsuit were in Settlement Negotiations, Harberd had his attorney continue to work on “his defense” while all others stopped to enter settlement discussions. That cost WA County taxpayers $11,563.20 for his attorney’s fees alone. Out of ALL County employees and officials sued, Harberd’s attorney fees were the MOST costly by thousands of dollars. (This info available via FOIA request.)

Also, keep in mind that the same people who promote Jim Harberd and filed a Recall Petition against True Pearce, are the people supporting Kevin Jones. I don’t think WA County can afford another Jim Harberd, and if Kevin Jones becomes a Commissioner, that’s who he says he’ll support.
