It makes me very sad to know that I live in a country where a large population of its citizens have no idea what is going on in the world. Not only that, but they also take offense when President Trump does something to improve life in our world. The attack and resulting arrest of Venezuela’s President Nicolás Maduro is the best action taken yet toward winning the war on drugs.
President Nixon in 1971 issued a proclamation declaring a War on Drugs. That was good, but not enough. In 1986, President Reagan picked up the torch and tried to put teeth in the previous bills. Again, not enough. Unfortunately, up until now, there has been no effective result. And yes, those pieces of paper did give President Trump the sanctioning he needed to do this. They started something that he finished.
The problem with politicians is that they care more about what will happen to their careers than about the citizens. They never did enough. They just made a statement. President Trump is doing the job that everyone else is afraid to do but needs doing. No, it probably isn’t “politically correct,” but it is right. Several precedents from both parties support the President’s actions.
Drugs are the “pie” that everyone has their hands in to reap the financial rewards. Not just criminals! Politicians, agency heads, and more. Countries are making money on our children’s deaths. Is that OK with you?
