In Loving Memory of Anthony Joseph Finchen JR aka: Tony, TJ

Anthony Finchen, age 68, Loving Father, Brother, Uncle, Great Uncle, Cousin, passed away on June 12, 2025 in Council, Idaho of a heart attack. Anthony was born in 1957 in Philadelphia, PA. He had 2 sisters and 5 brothers and grew up in Tennessee and California.

Tony graduated high school from Abraham Lincoln High School in San Jose, CA where he discovered his interest in Future Farmers of America and Scouting. He later enlisted in the US Air Force and was a Military Police and also trained military dogs, and completed his service Honorably. Tony then went to work for the Los Angeles Police Dept. as a Street Police Officer and later was promoted to Detective, which he loved his job there. He was one of the involved officers in the famous Bank Of America shootout, in North Hollywood, CA. He also built the first case for the anti-stalking protections for victims in the US and was awarded the 1st conviction.

Tony had a very close relationship with his mother Josie, he later retired and moved to Council, Idaho to be close to his mother who lived in Nampa, Idaho. He purchased a ranch in Council, Idaho, where he was able to follow his love for the outdoors as a hunter and fisherman.

Tony was the protector in our family and had a big heart but he was tough when he had to be. He had special relationships with his sister Angie, and cousin Joe. They were the best of friends and shared lots of personal thoughts and feelings. He was caring, genuine, fun, loyal and his family meant the most to him, Son, Michael Finchen, Sisters, Angela Finchen-Alva, Juanita Quintero-Ornelas, Brothers, Joe Finchen, Mike Finchen, Tony Finchen III, Robert Quintero, Paul Quintero Jr., Uncle Charlie, Nephews, Nieces, and Cousins.

Tony enjoyed his freedoms living in rural Council, Idaho. He enjoyed his friends and neighbors and spoke to them often. He enjoyed his time spent with Val Murray in the final years of his life.

We will miss so very much, your daily phone calls, your challenges, your laughter and funny stories.

Funeral Services and Celebration of life will be held on July 24, 2025 at 9:30 a.m. at the Thomason Funeral Home, followed by burial services at 1:00 p.m. at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery.
