Boyd Rendel Moore

Boyd Moore, age 96, passed away April 30, 2026 in Payette, Idaho at The Cottages Assisted Living Facility. He was born October 6, 1929 to James Edward “Ted” Moore and Elizabeth (Nonie) Houser Moore in Emmett, Idaho, where he started school in 1935. In 1938, the family moved to Montour, Idaho for four years before relocating to New Meadows, Idaho where Boyd finished his education in 1949.

He worked at Tamarack Mill after graduation and, on January 10, 1951, married Reta Colleen Rich. Boyd was drafted into the Army and went to Ft. Lewis, Washington. After his basic training, he went to medical school and finished his service as a hospital orderly. He was Honorably Discharged as a Corporal in 1953 and returned to New Meadows and continued living there until 2020. He worked for J.I. Morgan Logging Co., Tamarack Mill, and the U.S. Postal Service in New Meadows as Postmaster, retiring in December of 1989. He continued working as a school bus driver and volunteered as Meadows Valley Cemetery clerk for many years.

Boyd is survived by his children, Judy (Frank) Ellsbury, Caldwell, Idaho; Debra (Dave) Heath, Fruitland, Idaho; and Rob (Sandy) Moore, Payette, Idaho. He has seven grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings and their spouses, and loving wife of 68 years.

Boyd entrusted his final arrangements to McCall Funeral Home in McCall. Graveside services will be held on May 23rd, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. in Meadows Valley Cemetery with a Celebration of Life and potluck luncheon immediately following in the New Meadows Community Center, 102 N. Commercial Ave.
