Donald Eugene Piepkorn age 70 of New Meadows, Idaho passed away on February 16, 2026. Funeral services will be held in the spring of 2026, time and date to be determined, at the McCall Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are being handled by McCall Funeral Home.
Don was born in Tucson, Arizona on August 17, 1955. In 1972 at 17 years old he joined the Army serving two years and one year in the Army National Guard. He was commissioned to Germany during the war in Vietnam. Don was married to Barbara on August 18, 1996 and have been married for 29 years.
Working many jobs after being in the army included: the Forest Service, the Little Ski Hill where he worked for 30 years starting as a lift operator to general maintenance manager, a carpenter and greens mower at the McCall Golf Course. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and telling stories of New Meadows and McCall where he grew up and the old homestead where he lived.
Don is survived by his wife Barbara, two sons James and Mathew, grandson Cody, two brothers Dwight Curtis and Terry Piepkorn, three sisters Marge Gray, Cindy Jackman, Delcy Crane and several nieces and nephews and their children and many friends. He is preceded in death by his parents Dee and LaVerne Piepkorn, brother Jimmy, grandparents and numerous aunts and uncles.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the Little Ski Hill on Highway 55. The family wishes to thank St. Luke’s hospital staff and the hospice team for their generous compassion and caring.
